Join the Bryan Cultural Series for An Evening of Poetry, featuring North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green and some of the state’s most compelling emerging young voices.
Shelton Green will host an inspiring evening of readings by the 2025 and 2026 North Carolina Youth Poets Laureate, along with high school poet laureates participating in programs she has helped lead across the state. Together, these talented young writers will share original works exploring their experiences, perspectives, and the power of poetry to connect us.
North Carolina’s first African American and third woman to serve as state Poet Laureate, Jaki Shelton Green is an award-winning poet, educator, and advocate for the literary arts. Her work has inspired generations of writers and helped create opportunities for young people to discover and develop their own voices.
